Unrivalled expertise and professional service are the cornerstones of Vic Rajah Family Lawyers. When our practice was established in 1980 by Richard Calley, we were the first in Australia to specialise solely in Family Law. Vic took over the practice in 2013 having worked alongside Richard for many years and the firm now bears his name.

Clients are generally referred to Vic Rajah Family Lawyers from a wide range of professionals such as commercial lawyers, accountants and health practitioners but more often than not from our many satisfied clients. They all know family law is a specialised area and our reputation for uncompromised excellence is at the forefront of the industry.

Vic Rajah Family Lawyers have offices in the Melbourne CBD, Sandringham and Mt Eliza servicing a diverse range of clients from metropolitan Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula as well as numerous country, interstate and international clientele.

Vic obtained his law degree from the University of Melbourne graduating with honours. He worked at one of Australia’s premier law firms training as a commercial solicitor before shifting to exclusively practice family law in 2003.

Vic was trained by the firm’s founder, Richard Thomas Calley. His grounding has equipped him well bringing a deep understanding of complex property and financial issues to his work in family law.

A passionate follower of AFL football and cricket, Vic also is an accomplished motivational speaker presenting to a number of cancer survivorship forums.

Vic is an accredited family law specialist and has a real passion working on parenting matters. He was awarded a Centenary of Federation medal by the Governor General for service to the community on youth issues.

He currently is Chairman of Bestchance, a leading not-for-profit charity which operates child therapy services, early childhood education programs, family support services and a school for primary school aged students suffering from behavioural and development challenges. He also consults to the board of Oakleigh Grammar School where he is Convenor of the school’s Business Network.

Helen Roach

Helen worked in various managerial positions with local government before commencing her legal career 20 years ago. She trained in commercial law before discovering her passion for family law and has practiced exclusively in this area for many years.

Helen has worked as a solicitor advocate in the Federal Circuit Court and has wide-ranging experience in both parenting and property matters.

She was previously employed at the Peninsula Community Legal Centre with a focus on assisting clients experiencing family violence. Helen is also able to assist clients in the preparation of wills.

When not at work, Helen is an accomplished competitive triathlete having been a multiple age group champion and dual silver medallist at the World Championship level. She is also a Level 2 triathlon coach.

Helen was formerly a board member of Hills Community Options, a publicly-funded non-government organisation providing support services and accommodation to intellectually-disabled individuals in South Australia.

David Tonkin

David Tonkin

Consultant

David is a highly-regarded criminal lawyer and advocate with over 40 years of legal practice experience. He regularly appears at Court and assists the practice in family violence and intervention order proceedings.

David formerly operated his own legal practice but has worked as a Consultant at Vic Rajah Family Lawyers over the past few years.

He is a keen sailor and swimmer and has served on the board and committees of various sporting organisations and sailing clubs.

Kate Barker

Kate joined the team at Vic Rajah Family Lawyers in 2019. She undertook her law degree at Deakin University and throughout the course of her studies, worked in various sales roles honing her client service skills.

Kate excelled in sports and music and in her final year of school and was appointed a House Captain and Music Captain. She is the recipient of a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and has given her time to support numerous charitable causes.

Sarah Kettunen

Sarah joined the team at Vic Rajah Family Lawyers in 2022 after obtaining her law degree from Monash University. She brings a wealth of experience to client service, as she worked in a customer service role throughout her studies. Sarah developed a passion for family law during her placement at Monash Law Clinics in the family law stream.

Sarah has a keen passion for the Geelong Cats, and in her spare time she enjoys Pilates and yoga. She has also served on the social committee of various sporting clubs.

Tahlia Corbin

Tahlia joined the team at Vic Rajah Family Lawyers in June 2022 and is currently undertaking a double degree in Law and Criminology / Criminal Justice at Swinburne University of Technology. As an aspiring Family Lawyer, Tahlia has worked in a number of customer service roles and has gained experience working as a legal clerk in a busy Wills and Estates practice. A caring and empathetic individual by nature, Tahlia has served as a classroom assistant at Yarrabah Special Needs School and is a Foster Carer for Meow Rescue.

Tahlia is actively involved in her local community and outside of the law, she enjoys volunteering, baseball and swimming.

Chloe Daniels

Chloe joined the team at Vic Rajah Family Lawyers in March 2024 and is undertaking the final year of her law degree at Deakin University. Chloe has a passion for family law and is keen to assist clients exhibiting her forensic attention to detail and highly-developed interpersonal skills.

Chloe has managerial experience in the hospitality and retail industries and her leadership capabilities at Mentone Girls Grammar was recognised in her appointment in her VCE year as Debating Captain and Sports Woman of the Year. Outside of work, Chloe enjoys playing competitive basketball and cooking.
